Theory of Knowledge, compulsory for all IB Diploma students, is an interdisciplinary study in which students reflect critically about how they know. They must write a 1200-1600 word essay, in English, from a list of 10 questions prescribed by the IBO. They must also present to the class for 10 minutes on their topic and prepare a self evaluation report.
All Diploma students write an extended essay in English of approximately 4000 words that is assessed externally by the IB. This is an in-depth study based on one of their six subjects. It helps prepare students for university by introducing them to the style of independent research and writing skills expected at this level.
Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) provides a counterbalance to the academic programme. It has the goal of educating the whole person and fostering a more compassionate and active citizen. CAS covers a wide range of activities, including the Arts, camps, individual and team sports and community and social service activities. Students must complete 150 hours of CAS during the two-year programme and maintain a journal for recording hours and their reflections on their progress.
IB Diploma Certificate Programme
The IB Certificate Programme is a demanding 2 year course of study delivered in English with rigorous assessment that leads to external examinations, conducted by the IBO, at the end of Year 12. It is suitable for students who opt to study IB subjects outside of the required pattern of Group 1-6 (above), or at different levels from those set by the IB, especially in the second year of the programme.
Students who successfully meet the subject requirements receive IB Certificates for those subjects. These are accepted by some universities overseas, by colleges and for Foundation Courses. Students and families are advised to check the websites of individual universities.
Science Programme
This two year programme meets the requirements of the Indonesian curriculum. It is designed for students planning to enter universities within Indonesia, allowing students to choose tertiary studies from a range of faculties.
In general the Science Programme is taught using English except for the subject of Bahasa Indonesia. Texts are sourced from both Indonesia and overseas. This course leads to UNAS exams at the end of Year 12.
Humanities Programme
This two year programme meets the requirements of the Indonesian curriculum. It is designed for students planning to enter universities within Indonesia, allowing students to chose tertiary studies that list Humanities subjects as the entrance requirement.
In general the Humanities Programme is taught using English except for the subject of Bahasa Indonesia. Texts are sourced from both Indonesia and overseas. This course leads to UNAS exams at the end of Year 12.
Extended Essay and Creativity, Action and Service (CAS)
All IB Diploma Certificate, Science and Humanities students write an extended essay in English which is assessed within the school. This is an in-depth study, based on one of the subjects. It helps prepare students for university by introducing them to the style of independent research and writing skills expected at this level.
All students likewise participate in Creativity, Action and Service (CAS), as detailed above. This provides a counterbalance to the academic programme and has the goal of educating the whole person and fostering a more compassionate and active citizen.
