Pre Elementary
High School

The Toddler Class for 1-2 year olds is an introduction to schooling and a perfect preparation for the Play Group at Sekolah Ciputra. Parents can plan a flexible programme for their Toddlers, choosing up to 5 sessions from 10 session times per week. The classes are run by experienced Early Childhood teachers using English and Indonesian to support each individual child’s development
The balanced curriculum is guided by the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and reflects the interests, needs, abilities and natural learning styles of Toddlers who are:
• engaging in sensory activities and exploring their environment
• building an expressive vocabulary
• developing fine motor skills necessary later for writing
• refining gross motor skills of balance and coordination
• becoming more independent in feeding and toileting
• developing social skills and playing cooperatively
The classrooms and outdoor learning areas are safe, spacious and comfortable and filled with age appropriate play equipment to meet the developmental needs of Toddlers. The facilities have been designed to support their physical, social, language and creativity development.
The Toddler Class allows for continuous enrolment throughout the year and is open to students aged 1-2 years in accordance with the school’s Enrolment Policy.
The Play Group programme is designed for students aged 2-4 years. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) guides teaching and learning in Play Group A, and the PYP formally commences in Play Group B. The programme is a good foundation for Kindergarten (PYP A and B) at Sekolah Ciputra.
In a caring environment each child is viewed as a special person who is given opportunities to grow in all developmental areas. Children participate in activities that explore language, mathematics, science, music and art. These activities stimulate and capture the children’s imagination helping them to learn. Socialized play and indoor and outdoor gross-motor activities are included within the curriculum.
Communication is in English. Children become familiar with English through greetings, instructions, stories and songs.
Each class occupies a spacious, air-conditioned classroom, well-equipped with educational games, student resources and age-appropriate toys to support students’ holistic development. There is a separate outside play area, specifically designed for the development needs of Play Group students.
The school has a minimum entry age for enrolment of students in Play Group (see Enrolment section). The student:teacher ratio is kept low, with a maximum of 12-15 students per class and one IB trained teacher and one or two trained assistant teachers.
Sessions: Monday – Friday
Play Group A 8.00 – 10.00 or 10.15 – 12.15 for 2-3 year olds
Play Group B 8.00 – 11.00 for 3-4 year olds.
The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) provides the educational framework for the Kindergarten programme for children aged 4-5 years. This curriculum, focusing on the holistic growth of the developing child, encompasses social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development. Our Kindergarten programme is divided into two parts: PYP A and PYP B.
The PYP for 3-12 years old is an inquiry based programme designed to support each student with the skills to be an active, independent learner. The trans-disciplinary nature of the PYP curriculum supports the integration of subjects into six major Units of Inquiry. Maths skills are taught separately.
English is the language of classroom instruction, greetings, notices and informal conversation between students and teachers. Indonesian may be used for additional clarification for any students who may need it.
A qualified native English speaking expatriate teacher coordinates and delivers an English Literacy Programme to all classes in PYP A and B.
A home reading programme supports classroom learning and encourages the development of independent study habits from an early age.
Religion classes are provided for all students in PYPA and B. The school is pluralistic and currently provides religion classes for Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu and Moslem students.
Parents are partners in the learning process. Parents are encouraged to speak with teachers on a regular basis at school, to participate in planned class activities and to participate in the Three-Way Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences. Workshops and seminars are organized on a regular basis for parents and friends.
A low student:teacher ratio enhances student learning. Each class has two qualified, IB trained teachers and a maximum of 22 students.
Sessions: Monday – Friday 8.00 – 12.30
The Day Care service is provided only for Sekolah Ciputra students who need to be picked up at an agreed time. Flexible and graduated fees are offered - per day, weekly or monthly - so that parents can organise the time their child spends in Daycare based on their actual needs.
The Day Care service is offered from 8 am to 4 pm. Day Care is located in the Pre-elementary area, a quiet area equipped with safe, modern facilities. The programme is planned weekly to meet the needs of the students based on the age of the group.
Our trained teachers and skillful staff are responsible for managing the daily routine and the enrichment programmes. Joining our Day Care programme not only strengthens students’ self management skills but also develops social, emotional, language and cognitive skills as well.
International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme
The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), with the inclusion of Indonesian national characteristics as regulated by the Indonesian Government, provides the educational framework for the Elementary School.
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is an inquiry based programme designed to support each student with the skills to be an active, independent learner for life. It focuses on the growth of the developing child, encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development. The aim of the programme is to support Indonesian and expatriate students to become internationally minded, global citizens.
The trans-disciplinary nature of the PYP curriculum supports the integration of subjects into Units of Inquiry. Maths skills are taught separately using inquiry methodology. Specialist teachers deliver Mandarin, Religion, PE and The Arts to all students across Years 1-6.
English is the language of classroom instruction, greetings, notices and informal conversation between students and teachers. The provision of language support for students who speak neither English nor Indonesian is discussed at the time of enrolment.
Qualified native English speaking expatriate teachers coordinate and deliver an intensive English Literacy Programme to students at each grade level. Expatriate teachers also work with IB trained Indonesian teachers to plan and teach the general programme.
Students are expected to complete homework set on a regular basis.
Student assessment is varied and continuous to meet the needs of each component of the programme. Students meet the requirements established by the National Ministry of Education as well as those set by the IBO. A Graduation Certificate is presented to Year 6 students who meet these requirements.
In Year 6 students carry out an extended inquiry project, known as the PYP Exhibition, under the guidance of their teachers. It provides an opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the student profile that have been developing throughout the PYP. It is a culminating experience marking the transition from the Primary Years Programme to the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Parents as partners in the learning process are welcomed in the school. Regular workshops and information sessions are provided to assist parents. The reporting system involves parents and includes two parent-student-teacher conferences, home student-led conferences and written reports at the conclusion of each semester.
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (Years 7 - 10)
International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) runs across Years 7-10 and provides excellent preparation for the IB Diploma Programme in Years 11-12.
The MYP aims to produce independent learners who are internationally minded and who possess the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to participate responsibly in a changing and increasingly inter-related world.
The MYP curriculum consists of eight compulsory subject groups: Language A (English and Indonesian), Language B (Mandarin), Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Physical Education, The Arts and Technology.
To meet Indonesian Government regulations, Religion is taught as a separate subject with specialist teachers currently provide lessons for Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu and Moslem students. Civics is integrated into Humanities. Teachers in all curriculum areas integrate Indonesian culture and values into their programmes.
English is the language of instruction and communication in all MYP subjects except for Bahasa Indonesia. This provides a solid foundation for the IB Diploma Programme.
The classroom curriculum is supported by a range of camps, excursions and activities in which all students are required to participate.
Each year, MYP students must complete 25 hours of Community and Service out of school hours and maintain a journal for recording their hours and reflections. In Year 10, the final year of the MYP, students complete a major Personal Project which engages them in independent inquiry and reflection.
MYP assessment is school based, continuous and varied. Samples of course work and student assessments are sent to the IBO for moderation by external assessors. The moderation process ensures that international standards are maintained.
At the end of Year 10, students are counseled into choices made from the full IB Diploma Programme, the IB Certificate Programme of 6 IB subjects, the National Science Programme or the National Humanities Programme. The choice is made after comprehensive information and counselling sessions during the second semester of Year 10.
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL (Years 11-12)
The Senior High school offers four curriculum options for students:
• The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
• The International Baccalaureate Courses Programme
• Indonesian Science Programme
• Indonesian Humanities Programme
Students in all programmes study Religion (in their religion of choice) and Physical Education.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
This programme is a comprehensive international curriculum delivered in English. It is a demanding two year pre-university course of study with rigorous assessment that leads to external examinations, conducted by the IBO, at the end of Year 12. Students are equipped with the skills and attitudes necessary for success in higher education and employment.
This pathway is intended for students planning to study in a university overseas and some universities/faculties within Indonesia.
Students select one course from each of six different groupings. The broad range of courses is designed to make students knowledgeable and adaptable for an increasingly unclear future, where flexibility and multiple skills will be valued more and more.
The IB DP includes a course in the Theory of Knowledge, an interdisciplinary study in which students reflect critically about what knowledge is and how it is created.
Diploma students are also required to write an extended essay of approximately 4000 words assessed externally by the IB. This is an in-depth study based on one of their six subjects. The Extended Essay helps to prepare students for university by introducing them to the style of independent research and writing skills expected at this level.
Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) provides a counterbalance to the academic programme. It has the goal of educating the whole person and fostering a more compassionate and active citizen. CAS covers a wide range of activities, including the Arts, camps, individual and team sports, community activities and social service activities. Students must complete 150 hours of CAS during the two-year programme and maintain a journal for recording personal reflections.
IB Courses Programme
The IB Courses Programme is a demanding two year course of study delivered in English, with rigorous assessment that leads to external examinations, conducted by the IBO, at the end of Year 12. It is suitable for students who opt to study IB subjects from outside the patterns required by the Diploma Programme or at different levels from that set by the IB, especially in the second year of the Diploma programme. Theory of Knowledge is not a requirement for this programme. The Extended Essay is shortened to 2,500 words and is marked internally. All students in the IB Courses Programme must do CAS.
Students who successfully meet the subject requirements receive IB Certificates for those subjects. These are accepted by some universities overseas, by colleges and for Foundation Courses. Students and families should refer to the websites of individual universities for more details.
Indonesian Science and Humanities programmes
These programmes are intended for students who need to continue their University studies in Indonesia. Students in both programmes do a core of Indonesian, English, Mathematics, Civics, Art or Music and History.
Science programme students study the core subjects plus Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Humanities programme students study the core subjects plus History, Sociology, Geography and Economics.
Students in both programmes are required to do an Extended Essay of up to 2,500 words. This is marked internally by the school.
Students are also required to undertake CAS activities under the same conditions as students in the IB Diploma and Certificate programmes.
